Join DAR to make a difference…

The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer service organization - composed of women with a common purpose of serving their communities through education, historic preservation, and patriotism.

Carolina Gold Daughters, as members of the NSDAR, are blood descendants of men and women who gave their lives and fortunes to establish the United States during the American Revolution.

As a volunteer women's service organization, we are dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, patriotism and honoring the Patriots of the American Revolutionary War.

History of the Carolina Gold Chapter, NSDAR…

The Carolina Gold Chapter, NSDAR, was chartered on December 5, 2015, in Murrells Inlet by a group of dynamic women who are descendants of American Patriots. Our community service and engagement can be found throughout the community while supporting education, veterans and local historic properties like Hopswee in nearby Georgetown, South Carolina.

  • In December 2023, Carolina Gold Chapter, NSDAR, members celebrated the 250th Anniversary of the Charles Town and Boston Tea parties with a luncheon and speaker. We shipped loose tea leaves to the Boston Tea Party and Ships Museum to use in the 12/16/23 reenactment, and we decorated the Christmas Tree at Hopsewee Plantation in Georgetown, South Carolina, with teacups and natural adornments.

Members volunteer as docents at Hopsewee Plantation, by decorating the home and tea house inside and out for the Christmas holidays. Hopsewee is often selected as a site for our annual National Day of Service.

Members volunteer as gardeners on a weekly basis at historic Belin Memorial United Methodist Church, once part of Wachesaw Plantation in Murrells Inlet, South Carolina.

  • We constantly strive to make history come alive for everyone with interactive, educational chapter programs, often including field trips to explore our rich heritage.

Each June members help organize a Colonial Kids Camp in Georgetown, South Carolina, as well as organize an annual Carolina Day to teach the public about South Carolina’s importance in the American Revolution.

We work with a local home school group to provide historical enrichment programs.

  • Carolina Gold Chapter, NSDAR, members volunteer at the local Veteran’s Administration (VA) clinic providing snacks, beverages, and fleece blankets and bags to veterans who have appointments at the facility. We participate in patriotic parades, historic marker ceremonies, military stand-downs, and strive to identify veterans to honor.

Members attended the poignant reinterment of 14 Battle of Camden casualties in April 2023.

We develop educational programs to help support the Horry and Georgetown County 250 Committees.

We also support the South Carolina Battlefield Trust, the efforts of the South Carolina 250 Commission and the South Carolina Revolution Trust.

Members constantly develop partnerships with schools and other organizations to celebrate Constitution Week and all year long.
