The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution (NSDAR) is a nonprofit, nonpolitical volunteer service organization - composed of women with a common purpose of serving their communities through education, historic preservation, and patriotism. The Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) have over 190,000 members from diverse backgrounds in 3,000 local chapters worldwide. All members, regardless of race, religion or ethnic background, document and trace their lineal descent to a patriot of the American Revolution - those who helped achieve American independence through military, civil, or patriotic service.
